Casagrande & Rintala's 2-day Workshop in Sapporo Pioneer City

Casagrande and Rintala come from Helsinki, a Northern
city just like Sapporo. In Sapporo, which snows a great deal for
a large city (with a population of a million people), we discussed
snow. How should urban design and architecture encounter snow?
Participants directly experienced snow with their hands and created
individual shelters. Through the shelters, we analyzed snow and
cities. In order to make a leap in thought, we have to review something
familiar from a new direction. Using art techniques, we created
a temporary city.
