As with any work of Cai Guo Chiang, the future of this project
is still a mystery. There is an idea to use a blimp, and this
will be the basic idea.
In the beginning, there was an idea of traveling through Japan
on a blimp for promoting Demeter. Then, it became clear that it
would cost a tremendous amount of the budget. After discussing
various possibilities, the plan of keeping the blimp above the
exhibition space is likely to be the actual project.
However, in order to make this plan come true, there are some
challenging issues, such as bringing in the blimp materials and
engineers from China, which makes staff members thrilled and anxious.
On the other hand, Cai Guo Chiang is always keeping his own pace.
The gap between his dynamic and neutral personalities attracts
people who work with him. Such charm makes people want to work
hard to realize Cais vision.
Cai Guo Chiang is now back at his home, Fujian, in China to attend
his sisters wedding. He plans to set off fireworks to celebrate
his sisters marriage on May 9th. From May 25th to September
23rd, Cai is having an exhibition of his installation at The Hakone
OPEN-AIR museum. It is a unique exhibition in a tearoom, showing
a film in the space.
Cai is now working on the project plan with a blimp. If you have
good ideas, why donŐt you write to Cai in I LOVE DEMETER? Your
idea may become an artwork!
