Winter & Hoerbert's first experience of Japan started in Obihiro. After leaving from Frankfurt to Tokyo, then to Hokkaido, their schedule was packed everyday, but they were very energetic. Being Germans who love beer, they never missed a party at night. They visited the racetrack three times, and said, "we have to walk from Obihiro Station to the racetrack to think of the appropriate site for installing our works." As they had earlier studied sculpture, they have strong opinions in the form of artwork in the surrounding landscape. While joking and laughing, they stopped with serious looks in their eyes and checked out the sites. Without any words, they have perfect teamwork and also entertain others around them. Even while laughing with them all the time during their stay, at the end of the trip there was a complete plan for their work. When did they come up with their ideas? They must have not only talents but also guardian angels who help them with their work. |
